Your Best Fall Beers

Fri, Dec 02, 22  |  beer

Good things come in threes. Three things are coming your way. Fall, football, and beer. Now, maybe you are still enjoying the last bit of summer, but at least in the back of your head, you need to start thinking about this very serious matter of football and fall beer. Pretty soon you will be pulling on a hoodie, starting a bonfire or firing up the grill. Grab a football and a cold beer and you are ready to go. Here are four of the best fall beers whether you are preparing for a football game, a birthday party, or just a relaxing evening at home.

Bruery Autumn Maple

In some ways this is similar to Pumpkin beer in that cinnamon, allspice, molasses and many other of the same ingredients are present. However, this is Autumn Maple is brewed with yams and results in a sweet brown yam-flavored ale. The dark amber color is attractive enough and impossible to see through. The taste actually agrees with the smell fairly logically, which is a nice change from those beers with misleading aromas.

Ayinger Oktoberfest

A pale amber colored beer, which pours a with hints of pale copper. This is a sweet tasting beer with caramel and nutty malt constituting the main flavor. The aftertaste is smooth and refreshing. A moderate alcohol content makes it an easy beer to drink while watching football, grilling some food, and relaxing in the autumn weather.

Hazelnut Brown Nectar

This is a gorgeous looking beer, with a creamy-tan color with hues of olive, coffee, and mahogany.  Expect some foam that will subside in about 30 seconds. Upon first taste, you will be boisterously greeted by strong hazelnut flavors which will turn and introduce you to more mild hints of chocolate and spicy hops. This is often described as one of the most thirst-quenching beers you will ever drink. This is a celebratory drink, like a dessert after dinner or after watching your team kick the game winning field goal.

Samuel Adams Harvest Pumpkin Ale

Samuel Adams and the Patriots have more in common than just their birthplace. They are both great in the fall. Combine the two and Patriots fans will have the double pleasure of enjoying a good football team and a good beer. Full bodied and very tasty, it has the aroma of fresh baked pumpernickel bread, with hints of nutmeg, clove, and brown sugar. This copper/brown colored ale will leave you remarking at the sweetness and the cinnamon spice. This is a great beer for relaxing and looking at the beautiful autumn landscapes.
