Chenin Blanc

Chenin Blanc grapes can be processed into many different styles of white wine. This versatile grape, originally grown in the Loire Valley of France, is now being cultivated in wine-growing regions from South Africa to the United States. Since the grapes grow well in a variety of soils, vines are able to thrive in multiple areas. Although both sweet dessert and sparkling wines are made from Chenin Blanc grapes, the majority of grapes are made into crisp, dry, food-friendly wines that can be poured throughout a meal. Wines from different growing areas may express regional terroir; however, most wines consistently exhibit citrusy notes and zesty, refreshing acidity. Chenin Blanc pairs well with chicken dishes, hearty salads, and seafood.
