Labor Day Party Ideas for the Best BBQ of the Summer

Fri, Dec 02, 22

Labor Day party ideasThe last big holiday of the summer is Labor Day.

Not that you need another excuse to throw a party, but Labor Day is the perfect one. The last bash of the summer should be the best one. With these Labor Day party ideas, we have made it easy for you to host a celebration with for your friends and family.

Décor

Labor Day is an American holiday, so you should decorate with red, white, and blue. Fun and festive decorations, such as balloons throughout the yard, sunflowers at each table, and tiki torches for when the sun goes down, are all great ideas. Since the Labor Day holiday first began as a way to honor workers for all of their efforts, having hammocks and plenty of lounge chairs with cushions around your yard will be a perfect way for your guests to relax.

Activities

Corn hole is the ultimate outdoor party game. Whether there is a handyman in the house that can build the game, or you borrow or rent it, the game is a summer party staple. Horseshoes are a great way for the older crowd to relax and socialize, while volleyball is a great way for the younger crowd to rollick and let loose. Lastly, the most popular treat of summer is the s’more. If you are able to have a bonfire later in the evening, guests can not only roast marshmallows for the scrumptious dessert, but can also sit around the bonfire, reminiscing about what an awesome summer they had.

Food

Since Labor Day somewhat signifies the closing of the summer, the grill should definitely be used for most of the main dishes. Who knows when you will have the grilling opportunity again this year. Chicken and vegetable kabobs, hamburgers, hot dogs, and even grilled corn on the cob are the easiest to make and enjoy. Simple sides like potato salad and potato chips will satisfy anyone’s needs. Desserts can be fruit salad, apple or berry pies, and ice cream!

Drinks

The most important part (to us) of a fun and successful Labor Day party are the drinks. Having a cooler of your favorite summer beers, such as a shandy, pale ale, or lager is an easy way to provide ice cold beverages. Having a few bottles of your favorite spirit along with some juices and soda is also a good way to get the party started. Check out Delish for 14 Labor Day cocktails that are all sure to be a crowd pleaser. We suggest the Cayuse Cherry Bomb if you are only going to choose one to make for your guests.
