The Cowhorn Vineyard is a pristine biodynamic vineyard in the heart of Applegate Valley farmed by Bill Steele. It's an ideal site for Rhone varietals, with its rocky, well-drained river bench soils, warm temperatures, and dry growing seasons. The 2018 Queen D named in honor of Brianne's sister, is a vibrant expression of Marsanne and Roussanne in equal parts. Aromas of mandarin orange, lemon liqueur, dried peaches and apricots, and white honeysuckle give way to the surprisingly tense palate. While the richness of fruit is certainly forefront, the acidity provides a refreshing backbone to the flavor profile. This wine is at once both deep and dancing on the palate, with a high-toned, smoke-tinged finish. Truly a wine of place.
